I really like this guy, even if he’s not really Jimmy Olsen in character terms. I can live with that.

Absolutely, although the Nu52 version is a punchy twit. And the Jeph Loen iteration started out as a complete airhead.
“You want to know why I was so driven to kill you, Barry? It’s because I got turned into a meme, goddamnit. A MEME.”
Reports have it that he’s concentrating on trying to have a movie career.
It was done in the pre-Nu52 iteration of Booster Gold, where Rip grabs Booster’s sister Michelle from her timeline just before she’s killed.
Oh, I agree there, and as a friend of mine said, it’s a matter of name recognition — most people wouldn’t have any idea who Ron Troupe is; even in Smallville, the character was a bit part in the future Daily Planet scenes.
You actually answered your own question, but thinking about the question makes me go “Hmmm” about comparing this guy to Ron Troupe — the reason I said that was that this characterization is cool, confident, and laid back, which is definitely not Jimmy Olsen. It’s really also not Ron Troupe, because Ron Troupe was…
Aaaaand...there’s a lot of silver age Supergirl sneaking in here. Which I suspect is going to go away mostly as the series goes on. I just wish that part didn’t look so much like a sitcom.
Also, the first half is pretty much an expie of Clark Kent from Superman: The Movie, adjusted for the character being female and therefore *more* stepped on than a big white guy.

What I suspect we’ll see is no crossovers until the…
Word Of God is that Supergirl is in the Arrowverse continuity, and crossovers will be possible and may well happen.
“Oh, Hel...crab just got my nuts!”
The original 1960s series is hilariously bizarre, partly because they took suggestions from the readers for superhero IDs for Robby to transform into.
Umm, actually, in the Nu52 Action #1 he couldn’t fly and was restricted to jumping, so it’s reverting him back to his original Nu52 powerset, which was itself an adaptation of the original.
Oh come on now, a Medusa teaser, really?
And...modified boobs and butt pose.
ZErrrr, as we’ve seen several times by now, AKA Jessica Jones has Cage in it, and it’s going to tag off straight into the Luke Cage series, which will show up next year, and that will lead into Iron Fist, also next year. The only question anyone has is whether or not they’ll introduce Danny Rand in the Luke Cage…
