If it slid open to reveal buttons and a D-pad for playing games then I'd be more excited. But I suppose the speaker would be useful for showing a small group of people a video

@Tzion: Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more.: They're the same, yeah, but from 6ft+ away. At that distance 21" is pathetically small, especially for 3D where the goal of the technology is to get you more immersed
@dallasmay: Unfortunately for a 3D screen to be worth watching at 21" you'll have to be pretty close; enough to see the difference in resolution, otherwise you'll be far enough away for the experience to be underwhelming. Whether the screen will be any good to watch or not will depend on the distance their "sweet…
@I Think We're Property: Pixel size is determined by the combination of screen size and pixel density, not just resolution. I don't know how you got that I was saying the pixels were going to be huge. They won't be on a 21" screen. Also that's not irony
"Toshiba previously spoke of this technology as being 21-inches in size, with the panel not quite full HD, at 1280 x 800"
Strangely my first thought was how big is that solar sail. I'm glad the article answered that question
Thermite is so much fun. I remember my chemistry teacher setting up a clay flower pot and blasting the thermite out the bottom into the pavement where it just melted a big hole and sprayed iron everywhere. That was a good class
@digikrynary: It's unreasonable to expect any one dock to try and account for every kind of case, which is what you're asking them to do. They already have to adapt to fit several Apple devices, adding cases on top of that is not feasible. What is reasonable is to expect the case to be designed so that the device can…
I love how half the comments here automatically start with the premise "Ayn Rand=Conservatism"
I would really like some prints of these. They're fantastic.
@speednuts: Lol exactly. I'm glad someone got the joke
This is Gizmodo, not Jezebel. I think most of the readers here understand how this works.
@RaindropBebop: I too found that a bit of a stretch. I mean, I think Google hasn't been taking their "don't be evil" thing as seriously lately anyway but this investment really isn't any evidence of that
@OfficerMike: God I fucking love Calvin & Hobbes
"Handsome" and "dignified" were far from the first adjectives in my mind when I saw this thing
This has been going on for at least a month now.
I don't really get the breakthrough here. My sisters iPhone 3G has had a broken glass screen for a year now and the touchscreen functions perfectly.
lol there's got to be only like 10 people using it right now, me and some dude keep talking and then swiping and continuing our conversation when we get put together again. The chick in the promotional screenshot is sadly absent (actually, any chicks at all are sadly absent)
@DurfDiggler: No yellow screen issue. From what I've read I think that was probably a manufacturing kink that has probably since been worked out. Also I ordered from AT&T. I called them a couple days after the order and they said phones are typically going out in 5-7 business days if they're backordered
@abates25: Probably because you ordered 25 phones*. They want to keep you happy
