@cruzer555: Wow I didn't know individual shipments were being tracked all the way from overseas. Mine started in Fort Worth TX. It would be much more frustrating to watch it slowly travel its way from Hong Kong so I feel for you

Mine was ordered 6/23, shipped Tuesday and got here yesterday. It was a welcome surprise considering I won't be living at that address by the original estimated ship date

Yeah. Massachusetts blows

Honestly it was a mistake for them to push ahead with these after unveiling WP7. There was no reason for their existence, they're just weak phones stuck in limbo between dumb and smartphones. The data plan requirement Verizon added didn't help

@Joe Dinicola: That's when I thought mine would ship since I looked at Apple's website (ordered from AT&T) and new orders weren't shipping until the 14th. I just wanted to make sure though. Oh well

What batch of orders is this second shipment from? I've got 4 that were ordered 6/23 that aren't shipped yet

@puzz: I think to be durable when exposed like the case of a phone is the carbon fiber needs to be covered in something like clear coat, which makes it actually pretty thick. I've seen some real carbon fiber iPhone cases and while I'm sure they're pretty light they make the phone look like a tank

@Fulgurite: Been there, done that. Well, traded my iPhone for a Nexus One. It was a pretty good phone but I went back to a 3GS

I agree with all of these points. The glass back was an especially terrible design choice, it makes me feel like if I put the phone down on my glass desk top just right (or wrong, however you want to put it) that the back will shatter. I'll see how I feel about it when mine arrives in a couple weeks, I might just sell

@zjgz: Lol I dunno I always catch mine on my shoe, or at least break its fall. But yeah it was ridonkulous that it stopped working after the second drop

@zjgz: You don't stick your foot out under the phone? It barely takes any effort at all and will pretty much 100% guarantee your phone is fine. You don't have to throw yourself down to save it

Sorry but that's not a real world drop test. Nobody drops their phone from chest height and just watches it plummet to the ground without doing a thing to stop it. This is more like an unscientific stress test.

@Justin B: I'm really not sure, I'm not really technical when it comes to jailbreaking, which is why I used Spirit in the first place. I just know the dev-team blog basically explicitly says that I wouldn't be able to jailbreak with this.

The best part about the new design is probably that it'll no longer be a huge pain in the ass to design and apply the clear films that cover the entire phone. Aligning one onto the curved back of a 3GS and around the sides is pretty frustrating

@nach0: I can't downgrade to 3.1.2 because I didn't jailbreak until 3.1.3 and I don't have an SSH blob for 3.1.2 backed up on Sauriks servers

@jusjrad: Read the post the story links to, it tells you what you can and can't use this on. And the answer to your question is no

Yeah I'd love to be forced to brush my teeth clutching the toothbrush like a toddler. It's a brilliant concept!

Bummer, I used Spirit to jailbreak my 3GS so this won't work for me
