The casualness with which they have Lyra treating the alethiometer is really bothering me. If I remember from the books not only was it a major deal that she had it, but it was something that she mostly kept hidden. I also recall that it took her some time to learn to read it and there was much more of a process

I forgot to mention it, but I did notice. I’m wondering if it was an issue of making a talking goose in any way serious-looking.

I also think, maybe hugely off mark, but whatever, that they’re leaning hard into Scoresby as one of several of Lara’s father figures, and realized that he’s the only one who can fill the friendlier, more energetic role. Even reading the book, I was always struck by how she unconsciously cycles through them, and how

I instinctively dislike changes from the books, and thought Sam Elliott was perfect casting.

So am I the only bothered by Kaisa begin some sort of falcon here when he’s a goose in the books?

It’s been a long time since I’ve read the books, but Sam Elliott’s Scoresby is considerably more memorable than the character in the books.

Sam Elliott, who played him in the movie, is just about perfect casting.  So imagine if Sam Elliott were a cowboy/polar explorer who flew balloons and hung out with polar bears.

I have always hoped for Mark Ruffalo to hook up with Janeane Garofalo, just so Jezebel could call them Garofaluffalo.

Uggg!!! When are assholes like you just going to go the fuck away?

Did you find your way here from Return of Kings or something?

You're an asshole.

No, I'd say bigotry is pretty much right on target in this case. That "If a guy says he's asexual it usually means he's either impotent or has a micropenis" line is right up there with the claim that men usually 'go gay' because they can't convince a woman to have sex with them.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you actually don't know what you're talking about.

Too quickly? Tell me, what's not bigoted about the attitude that all men think with their dicks?

I think he's coming at it more from an angle similar to "homosexuality isn't real" - i.e: as a horrible bigot.

Do tell us, Truth Teller, about the scads of research you conducted which enabled you to arrive at such a conclusion. Is this like how sex addiction isn't real, either?

I'll save the link to the interview for the finale review for the sake of other spoilers, but I'm going to go ahead and talk about some stuff now:

I'm trying to resist discussing the next episode, but since it's thematically appropriate I'm gonna be naughty. Next episode's cold open shows an opportunity that could have been used to help Sarah Lynn "grow as a person," but of course Bojack's selfishness missed it.

Which is the same episode where Sarah Lynn said:

You are welcome to your opinion. And others are welcome to express their opinions that disagree with yours. If you didn't want people to respond to your comment, you shouldn't have made it.
