Yes - black beers (schwarzbier) are not as roasty and fermented with lager yeast - so much cleaner than the stouts and porters. Most stouts and porters are done with ale yeast - exception being the baltic porter which uses lager yeast (or ale yeast fermented at lower than average ale temps). BJCP judging credentials…
