Your post is well stated and echos a lot of my thoughts about the episode (better than I would). I am only posting to recommend that you watch Singin in the Rain if you like dancing, musicals etc. It is pretty great.

Oh man, I just introduced my oldest son to Terminator last Saturday (he loved it, and we have Judgement Day on tap for this weekend), and we were talking about how great that little scene with Mr. Miller was. His glee at making a big sale, the hint of grumpiness (“Only what you see pal.”) and the building dread…
I never have insightful things to post online, but this is worse than usual because for the second week in a row I am posting without having seen the episode yet. However, a feel compelled to vote for continued Arrow reviews with a comment, so here I am. AV Club: Please consider my vote registered. Thank you.
I am very late to the party on this, because I only caught up with all the Arrowverse shows over the weekend. But I just have to put this out into the universe even though no one will read it: I don’t think I have ever been more disappointed in the writing of the Arrowverse shows than I was watching Supergirl this…
They at least tried to address that-the Prefect had some line about how releasing anyone born under that sign would be so against the societal order that there would be rioting in the streets.
This episode has a lot of plotting problems, some discussed in this well written review and some not. My main beef: The choice of this show to move away from any Prime Directive is just fine, and could open up some great stories. But that seems to make it even more important to actually learn about a planet before…
I am not going to be able to catch up on this until tonight, but I am commenting as a vote for the excellent Arrow coverage on AV Club to continue. I am glad the reviews are back, that the episode was good, and I will be back next week!
I really enjoyed this episode, especially how it ended: not with a sweeping treaty or anything, but instead with the smallest of steps forward (maybe).
The Passage as a book series was a big disappointment to me, because I thought the first book was so great. But the second book was flashes of great around pages and pages of slog, and then I was done when I got to the Fanning origin novella in book three. I always meant to go back, but there was a lot of tedium in…
Yes-only topped by turning the freaking Guardians of the Galaxy into mainstream heroes. I have been a big fan of GG since I was a kid reading comics, but I did not think Marvel would ever be able to pull that off. Once Marvel succeeded with that excellent film, I knew that they could do anything well within the MCU.
Very well stated
The first part of this piece really captured how I felt leaving the theater: “I cannot believe Marvel pulled that off!”
Crap, I did not realize that Mr. Jay had passed away in November until I read your post and looked it up. What a shame-he was so talented.
I am in the same boat with some of my own family. I love them dearly, but refuse to follow their TV recommendations anymore. Failure to recognize the greatness of Deadwood is wholly disqualifying when it comes to TV picks............
I respectfully but strongly disagree with almost every part of this take on movies.
DEADWOOD. MOVIE. F%^$& YES.
Most fun part of the whole crossover for me is still Team Flash following Oliver out into the hallway of deep discussions for one of their patented chats and Ollie staring at them all like: “What is happening right now?”
-” I understand why Supergirl wants to clear the decks of constantly having to deal with the question of why Superman doesn’t show up to help Kara during world-ending events.”
I am a huge baseball fan-I believe it is the best game ever invented, and I have been watching every season with rapt attention for almost 40 years.
You are absolutely correct-I just caught up on Netflix, and that show is great.
