Your post is well stated and echos a lot of my thoughts about the episode (better than I would). I am only posting to recommend that you watch Singin in the Rain if you like dancing, musicals etc. It is pretty great.

I am very late to the party on this, because I only caught up with all the Arrowverse shows over the weekend. They at least tried to address that-the Prefect had some line about how releasing anyone born under that sign would be so against the societal order that there would be rioting in the streets.

This episode has a lot of plotting problems, some discussed in this well written review and some not. My main beef: The choice of this show to move away from any Prime Directive is just fine, and could open up some great stories. But that seems to make it even more important to actually learn about a planet before…

I really enjoyed this episode, especially how it ended: not with a sweeping treaty or anything, but instead with the smallest of steps forward (maybe).

Yes-only topped by turning the freaking Guardians of the Galaxy into mainstream heroes. I have been a big fan of GG since I was a kid reading comics, but I did not think Marvel would ever be able to pull that off. Once Marvel succeeded with that excellent film, I knew that they could do anything well within the MCU.

Crap, I did not realize that Mr. Jay had passed away in November until I read your post and looked it up. What a shame-he was so talented. 

I am  in the same boat with some of my own family. I love them dearly, but refuse to follow their TV recommendations anymore. Failure to recognize the greatness of Deadwood is wholly disqualifying when it comes to TV picks............

Most fun part of the whole crossover for me is still Team Flash following Oliver out into the hallway of deep discussions for one of their patented chats and Ollie staring at them all like: “What is happening right now?”

You are absolutely correct-I just caught up on Netflix, and that show is great.
