There are a lot of differences in racing between them and now, one big difference is we were riding on narrow bias ply tires and now every bike is on wide, sticky radials.
So you’re all set up to hit the corner-line is set up, speed is right, etc. stab the rear brake to help it break loose? That is flat track 101. I never did that roadracing way back when-anyone who hit their rear brake back then would low side (tires just weren’t there in the early ‘90s) but i did that on dirt and ice…
I took Keith Code’s California Superbike School in 1990 and they would pull you off the track if you used the rear brake.
