The original Bad Boys is a fairly decent if generic 80's buddy cop movie that came out half a decade late. It’s USP was seeing two characters that looked me in both roles, rather than just one who invariably has a less significant role across the film (unless they’re saving their partner’s life in the third act).

Hawkeye in the comics is great, Renner effectively got stiffed by Tony Stark being the go to quippy guy of the Avengers. If some of Tony’s sarcasm/jokes/wotnot had be given to Clint, it would have helped make the character stand out a bit more. The two sequels have (most) excellent fight scenes and few okay story beats, but generally I find watching them a drag.

Ah but the massive problem with the remake is that lots of what made the genie fun were Robin’s ad libs, which sound soulless and limp in the remake. Some of the word for work dialogue just doesn’t work coming from Big Willie Smith.
