Tbf I don’t think MCU properly worked out how to phase Spidey into their superhero world. He get dumped into Civil War midway through production and we get a knowingly brief overview of his backstory. Then as you point out he’s gifted Tony Stark as a father figure and his story get framed through that narrative.

In conclusion: the Marc Webb films sucked. And Spider-Man 2 remains one of the best comic book movies ever.

Either way what we ended up with wasn’t good enough. Patty dodged a bullet there.

Interesting.

To paraphrase a quote from Steven Soderbergh about Don Cheadle

This sounds slightly like the whole situation Patty had with Marvel over Thor 2, where they didn’t like her vision of the story.

Hollywood exec: “What I’m hearing is, you really want a remake of 2020.”

Thus brings to an end the somewhat weirdest story of year. Granted it has only been five days.

Touche.

Has anyone made a ‘you only live twice’ reference yet?

Other than Curt Jurgens (and maybe Julian Glover), I think all the folks playing Moore era villains were pretty good.

Truly a classic WTF Bond moment.

I believe you meant “the best Bond theme not sung by Shirley Bassey or Chris Cornell”, ahem.

I think you’re being harsh on Jill St John and Teri Hatcher, who were quite good for me.

I loved him in Vexed.

That Duran Duran song is cool, it’s the first one to get to No 1. The video is cheesy fun too.

Roger Moore’s Bond had the best villains. That is the hill I will die on.

I’ve seen a guy claim with all seeming sincerity that Die Another Day is his favorite.

Yikes, this is very bad.

Crap that’s rubbish
