The reason why I dislike Elmo so much is that I grew up with Big Bird and he was my way into Sesame Street. Sometime around the early 90's CTW decided that Telly’s stupid nephew was a better avatar than the big yellow bird who shaped the childhood of us Gen Xers.

At the risk of being out of step with my fellow AVC’ers, I miss the cheesey romcoms of the 80's and 90's. Sure they were as predictable as hell, but they were throwaway fun.

Here’s the thing, some people find these movies incredibly fun. Some people don’t. Some people were glad that the comic characters they grew up reading as a child were being turned into live action characters. Some people bemoan the narrowing of original ideas in Hollywood.

Some Like It Hot or Airplane. I can’t decide between the two.

I’d say Silver Streak and Stir Crazy are in the ball park of Gene Wilder’s collaborations with Mel Brooks, while not being quiet as iconic.

What’s funny about making fun of someone less fortunate that you?
