There weren’t any no-kill shelters in the area, and as a grown cat with a fairly obnoxious, yowly personality, I doubt he would have been adopted. I think we did the best we could, keeping him alive until the Asshole Vegan left and he could be fed normally.

I know plenty of perfectly reasonable vegans who keep cats and feed them meat. This particular one had his head so far up his ass that if you said something like "obligate carnivore" to him, you would have been crushed by a lot of impassioned flailing about how no living thing needs to slaughter another to eat.

Well, I wasn't the only person sneaking it real cat food. Several other residents fed it meat on the sly, which I assume is why it lived long enough to survive the Asshole Vegan. But it wasn't a steady diet, thus the emaciated condition when he finally left the area (sans cat).

This guy was an all-around asshole. Veganism is great for humans if that's what you want, but cats just can't survive without a regular diet of meat.
