Not that long ago here in DC a woman stabbed her children to death because she believed they were possessed. Similarly, child services had been called a few days before but no one responded. Let's hear it for our society's treatment of mental illnesses!

Yep my parents were fundies who did an exorcism on my sister because she had seizures. However because they were not all the way crazy they also got her medical treatment and they did not stab her. As someone raised by people crazy enough to do exorcisms on their children (yes really) I was not expecting stabbings. So utterly fucked up and tragic. Can we please do something about the way we ignore the mentally ill until they snap and kill their children (presumably because they are possessed by demons)?
