I’d give it a shot if I were you! Honestly I don’t think it would have worked without someone of Cate Blanchett’s talent portraying Schlafly (I embarrassingly had no idea who Schlafly she was before this). The show seems to want to show us how insecure, petty and fraudulent Schlafly is (also incredibly savvy, if not

This was so cathartic. Thank you for sharing!

I have to disagree with your take on Kobe’s impact on the sports world. I’m both a former college basketball player, Kobe fan AND a rape survivor (many of us exist!), so his death has been agonizingly complicated for me. But I can attest to what he’s done for women’s sports, especially women’s basketball - which is a

It’s basically that simple.

Growing up in Colorado has prepared me well for layering in NYC. It’s ingrained in me!

Yep. I can attest to that.

I disagree completely. Given in heightened, completely unrealistic circumstances, that honestly felt like as accurate as depiction of trauma processing as it can get. Speaking from experience, unfortunately. This episode was deeply triggering, but not necessarily in a bad way!

It’s really bad. What a shame.

What an excellent review. I’ve listened to the book twice, and you’ve really hit everything.

Wow! I’ve been a bit disappointed at times in the writing for Shiv’s character, but your interpretation actually makes a lot of sense!

I very much agree with Shiv’s writing. It’s possible that the writers are failing to convey her flaws as consistently as they think, which would contextualize her lapses in judgement. But it does seem more like her foibles are designed to serve the plot, whether they align with the character or not.

I am somehow still shocked and annoyed by this. Like, half of this piece is block quotes from the BuzzFeed article. Unbelievable.

NYC media culture is...hilariously insular. I say this as a relative country-bumpkin having been in the NYC industry for about a year.

Why is there no link the the BuzzFeed story?

A friend of mine in high school convinced our group of buddies that she had - wait for it - cirrhosis of the liver. I still blame myself and the internet, because she’d been complaining of stomach symptoms and we’d gone a little overboard on WebMD. And this was like, 2005 WebMD. We essentially gave her the roadmap to

Nah, like the Josh Gordons of the world.

I’m genuinely torn as to whether the Patriots are Basically Good for giving otherwise decent guys a second chance, or Mostly Bad for also giving supremely talented rapists and murderers a second chance.

Once had to get a zoom handle fixed; wanna say it cost $2500? We also used a lens that was $80k that never needed serious repairs in 5 years of being dragged all over campus and operated by students. Honestly it was a miracle!
