If you’re on someone else’s Prime and have an existing Amazon Rewards card you can go from the 3% to the 5% card if you are in the same “Amazon Household”, which you can set up at https://www.amazon.com/myh/households

Amazon isn’t scamming you - Amazon (the company) are offering to sell you 500ml for $12.28, which is the best deal. The 2-packs “from $48.52" are from other companies selling on Amazon.com, which is clear when you click and it tells you “This item is only available from third-party sellers (see all offers)”. It would

I’m with you. It’s tempting to believe Dyson’s are awesome because of the hype and high price tag but, objectively, mine is merely ‘quite good’ and - annoyingly - cheaply made as well (the clip on the bin assembly snapped off within a few month, for example - that’s a $40 replacement).

Going to leave one in my bag. I usually take a power strip and an international adaptor abroad. This plus the same adaptor is a nicer and neater solution for travel.

Just used Workflow to put a bunch of peoples pictures as home screen icons to make it easy for an elderly relative with arthritis to simply click on them to call. She loves it. Plenty of scope to do other things to help make tasks super-easy for seniors. Perhaps thats an area we could all have a discussion on some

If you’re playing YouTube videos on an iPhone, you can use the timer function of the Clock app to do this. Instead of choosing an alarm sound to play when the timer ends, you can choose ‘Stop Playing’.

The way a pro showed me how to it is to dilute some bleach in a bowl small enough that you can easily take it up a ladder and use a sponge or paper towel to blot the stain. That way you’re not spraying everywhere.

Bonus points for contemplating “impermanence” as things get messy again (recognizing that nothing is permanent is always good to bear in mind when you’re facing a difficult problem or circumstance).

Stuff like this just makes me feel a little weird about Amazon.

You’re right. Here’s my actual interaction this morning. It’s so lacking it’s comical.

In case it helps... two taps (not clicks) on the Home button scoots the screen down half way to make it easier to reach things at the top.

So far so good with OS X, iOS, and Watch. The only app that won’t function at all is Vuze (so that may be a Java issue despite installing both Apple and Oracle’s runtimes). Notes is slow to sync and has some minor screen corruption on the Mac, but is otherwise working really well and controllable with Siri for useful

A DAP (Dog-Appeasing Pheromone) collar works the same way, but since it’s worn all the time it also provides reassurance when away from a blanket or toy (first experience walking in a busy city, etc). That or the spray mentioned above really should be considered essential when bringing a puppy home. This one worked

Great article. I love the idea. I’m paying someone to manage my investments right now. It’s expensive and not exactly super-awesome, so I do plan on trying out some low-cost automation soon. So far I like the look of Schwab’s new Intelligent Portfolios and I’m also looking at Vanguard. The downside I see with things

If you’re young and want to stay flexible, renting is usually a much better idea. It might be the “American Dream”, but you’d be well advised to think extremely carefully about what you’re signing up for before you commit to a ton of debt and a stream of maintenance costs. In other countries, buying in a lot of

I have - and really like - the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox. Lifehacker has reviewed it before and The Wirecutter also rated it the best. You can start with 1 and then add a 2nd if you want to cover your outside area better. While it’s great for background music, no portable Bluetooth speaker is going to rival the

I’ve had B&W’s mounted under the overhang on the pool deck for 14 years. Still working great. Just popped up there today to give them a quick clean (frogs like to live on top of them and have been pooping on them for all that time). I was somewhat put off by the price when I got them, but I’m glad I did.

You could just opt for a stand-alone Bluetooth speaker - there’s no shame in that :-) But wiring it in to your existing amp is a great way to go. If you want to minimize the effort, hire an electrician - they’ll fish those wires in no time.

Check out some recipes before you buy. We have the smaller Cuisinart, which does its job well. However, we're usually scaling down recipes meant for an 8qt unit. In hindsight, I think it might have been smarter all around to get the larger size and refrigerate / freeze the extra portions.

I err on that side, but subtly try to insert good advice indirectly. e.g. At work, annual benefits enrollment is a good time to slip in a "this is also a good time to check on retirement / investment / saving plans" comment and include a link to Clark Howard's web site. Same deal with friends and family when they ask
