But this article is not science. It is a heavily biased opinion piece based on statistics. And to reference a quote made popular Mark Twain, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."

I think people are more upset by this being an article which seems to be taking a position on a contentious political issue.

What happened to "We come from the future. This is your daily mindfeed for amazing science, pop culture, and visions of tomorrow." ?

Maybe you ought to watch the movie first.

It is the science part of science fiction I am talking about. Science is about detail, and when there is a obvious break in the logic or plausibility because of a massive hole in the plot...it kind of ruins it and just becomes a hack attempt at science fiction.

That was an awful line, nothing I have seen in the trailers makes me the least bit interested in this movie.

Holy crap how stupid. I HATE movies that aren't even the least bit realistic with even the most obvious things like....say...TIME. So you expect me to shut off my brain and drool into my popcorn to think that these things just show up and they build these robot thingies (in the present day) in no time? It would take

"TODAY WE HIT DELETE ON DOOMSDAY! THEN LATER TODAY WE CREATE A NEW MEETING—RE: SURVIVAL!"

Absolute best cosplay I've seen would have to be the person who brought their cat in a Dex Starr costume. Its such a simple idea...

Staying in character as a Weeping Angel has got to be tough. In a crowded area you wouldn't get to do anything at all for the whole day.

This article is about massive series...the Lord of the Rings is not in that category...unless like me you have read the series 5 times ...any series longer than three books that you gave up on?

I think our major weapon is ducking....

Nintendo doesn't have patents on NES and SNES hardware anymore, maybe even N64. I know for certain they decided not to renew the NES and SNES ones. So, therefore, there's nothing wrong with making an emulator for them at all now.

I worked on this one at Masters FX, we made the House Monster and Big Starla in a hangar at Whiteman Airport, and got little credit. I still have the "you're meat!"tshirt with my name on it. I love it, and it's one of my proudest works to date, but it never gets mentioned.

That's one of my favorite movies. It's just so perfect.

What's bad about it? The attempts to generalize from single studies are heavily a decision of the media and the public that psychologists have no power over (the NYT once declared something "proven" on the basis of a fifteen person pilot study). Psychologists do the work they can with the resources they have and

Pimps don't commit suicide.

Well it opened in only one theater in LA on Christmas Day so 30k opening wasn't quite as bad as it looks. It may have played that week in NYC too (to qualify for the Oscars). I was there and the theater was packed that day. But yes, the studio did everything it could to bury this film.

Absolutely not, i agree. Richard Kelley should record his explanatory DVD commentary tracks before his movies are released, and sell them at the box office, like 3D glasses. They would serve a similar purpose.

Brazil made $30,000 on its opening. I'm pretty sure that's underperforming EVERY movie on this page.
