Everything in this class is built on a base model priced in the teens, costing around $10k to build. Of course the interiors feel cheap. If you want something more, you have to step up to a car/platform with a higher priced base model. VW might be the only exception...

The WRX STi ceased to matter when they quit offering it in the correct configuration. No one wants their snowboard boots in a freezing cold trunk.

The future is in electric or hybrid full size conversion vans. Every last one of you will want one when they can drive themselves. Sure, you’ll still whine and lament the loss of your old BMW 3 series, just like you lamented the loss of manual transmissions (which you also never bought new when you could), but mark my

Classic lines. Too bad the rest of these GM Saabs don’t hold up as well as their lines...

I’ll be curious if any of the vehicles will have mechanical locking differentials, and whether they performed any better than those that didn’t. I suspect, however, none of them have locking front or rear diffs anymore, even in foreign markets?

Props to anyone who goes with Spec 3 and otherwise keeps the appearance bone stock; Thats the guy who gets to have the most fun...

They will probably always have ‘manual override’ ability; The real question is how many cars will still be ‘driving machines’ capable of delivering ‘fun to drive’ dynamics...

Bullshit. EVERYONE will buy a self-driving car eventually, because there won’t be a choice...

Grand Am: It’s what the guy who washes your yacht drives.

Interesting. I also recall reading something to the effect that the JT Rubicon versions will have lower tow ratings, which might relate to the spring rates and sway bars (favoring flexibility over towing), as well as the sway bars having electronic disconnects (not sure the mechanics of those, but heavier loads might

Why would the JT be capable of towing nearly double the JLU? If anything, the physics of putting the hitch further from the rear axle would seem to make it less stable.

I really, really want to know how the JT is rated for nearly DOUBLE the tow capacity of the JL...

The recently leaked JT (pickup) tow capacity is 6,500 lbs. I’m curious what you think of that, vs 3,500 for the JLU. The JT has a significantly longer rear overhang (i.e. trailer ‘point of contact’) which would seem to work against it with regard to tow capacity.

Yeah, but I’ve seen enough episodes of ‘Mayday’ to know that it only takes one bad screw to make a really, really bad day...

Do they max load every plane before it leaves? Even so, the next real life stress test might be the last...

Yeah, they put two of them on anyway, because redundancy for safety! No worries...

Boeing... may have been building airplanes out of substandard metal??? Fuuuuckkkk....

Yes, I misstated my point - which is that they selectively use this ‘looking for work in the last four weeks’ metric and ignore the other metrics that have been added which do include those ‘hopelessly out of work’. The real unemployment rate is closer to 5% higher than the 5% rate we so often see.

Harley needs to redefine itself. They’re right in line with the slow down in sales of all-things-retro - same for 70's muscle cars and the like. Their big market has all had their midlife crisis, so if they want to remain in business, they’re going to have to find completely new ways to stay relevant.
