There’s a similar line of criticism in the AV Club review of “Let Me In”, if I remember correctly.

Some stores will run Thanksgiving promotions but there’s not the big sales as with the US. Everyone knows about Black Friday here though so stores will have Black Friday sales here around US Thanksgiving, which then feed into the pre-Christmas sales.

The lead photo is of the Eaton Centre in Toronto, where we just had Canadian Thanksgiving last weekend! Stores here still do Black Friday sales for US Thanksgiving, which is a bit weird.
