You are 100% correct. For those who are practical a simple Golf Sportwagen would be about $25k out-the-door (with a monster warranty to boot). But the typical car shopper is anything but practical.  It’s a slow slide into the abyss.  Mike Judge’s Idiocracy has turned out to be a documentary.

Mine had a rotary dial below the headlight switch. You could rotate it to change how long the headlights stayed on after the car shut off, or turn off the auto headlights completely. If it doesn’t work at all, broken solder joints in the module are likely the issue.
