I got a weenie of a refund when last year’s was much, much better, but I feel much worse for other people.

I do my with FreeTaxUSA which is super easy and only 12.99 for the CA portion. They don’t do any shit lobbying either. 

Use FreeTaxUSA. The fed portion is free, the state portion cost 12.99 and they don’t do any lobbying to keep tax filing complicated because they were created as the antidote to turbotax. They’re excellent, extremely easy.
