"The beard's too patchy, Ed. I can't let them see me like this."

Also, does anyone else remember when "white belt" was one of those funny scenester signifiers? Man, late 90s / early 00s indie rock fashion was… not great.

But our white belts certainly have yellowed since their last record…

Haha. Yeah, Lovitt Records has extra cash around for payola. They definitely outbid whatever huge PR company is in charge of the Sleigh Bells campaign.

@avclub-41964f200308ca57d0de36443fd15f81:disqus is just here to get those sweet, sweet upvotes once the Breitbart crowd finds this article in 3 days.

I for one am waiting for the thinkpiece penned by Jian Ghomeshi. That guy really seems to understand women, ya know?

Am I that much your dogg?

You can do that plenty of places without adding to Bbart's hit counter.

The compressed, "throw reverb on various things later in the mix" production works OK on the poppy and the sad songs. It's mainly those rockers that need a lot more hair on their arms. But this is a record that would really benefit from having a bonus album of all the demo versions.

Well I guess that's why they call them the 'Mats
Time on their hands should be time writing hits
    Beaten as children
    Bad luck with lovers
    One dose of thunder
    Drunk Dylan covers
And I guess that's why they call them the 'Mats

Y'know, I've probably been underrating Tim all this time, because I think "Dose of Thunder" and "Lay It Down Clown" are clunkers. But Pleased and All Shook each have a couple clunkers too. So yeah, I'll go along with this ranking.

    His 9th beer.

You just gave a studio exec an awesome idea for a Batman reboot where his new sidekick is Tinkerbell.

Hey, it worked when we gave Halle Barry her own comic book superhero/villain!

I read the first however-many pages Amazon lets you preview, and as someone who's adored the band for 25 years and read anything I've found about them, I'd had no fuckin' clue how messed up Bob's childhood was.

Yeah, Paul yells "c'mon fucker!" as sort of a "take it away, Bob!" leading into the guitar solo.

I prefer All Shook Down, but yes, I posted it that way to be silly, because most 'Mats fans for some reason think All Shook Down is Not a Great Album.

    "Just a Paul solo record"

On a scale of 1 to the Badfinger book, how heart wrenching?
