The M109 Paladin is still an effective vehicle, but it is a bit outdated compared to the PzH 2000 (which has replaced the M109 in several NATO forces). Though the thing has been upgraded considerably throughout the years, of course.

When I was with Charlie battery 1stBn 12Mar (USMC) we put a 155 round in a 55 gallon barrel at 7 miles in an artillery rodeo where you drop the gun (towed) did a quick set up and fired at the target given.

Most Artillery can do that automatically. Shoot 3-5 rounds at varying trajectories so they all arrive at the same time... very bad for the target.
