The conservative push-back against an inheritance tax is proof that they don’t really believe the rhetoric they claim about how “everyone in the US has equal opportunity” or “anyone can make it if they just work hard.” If they really believed these things, I would have just as much opportunity for success whether my

Hell, put the entire bill in the baby’s name. They can declare bankruptcy and still have it wiped off their credit score by the time their an adult.

Yup, and the frustrating thing is that people read up on this, understand how it should work, and then are told misinformation. Thankfully my friend double checked and was going back to the CPA with proof that he is able to withdraw the contributions without penalty but had he not, had he just taken the CPA’s word at

There is a lot of misunderstanding and miscommunication re: Roth IRAs. A friend of mine is buying a home and is withdrawing some contributions from his Roth IRA. Just the contributions, not the earnings. He called up his accountant to make it happen and was told that he would get hit with huge fees if he did so... My

I would think that’s a pretty safe way to enter things but I’m shocked how often it doesn’t work for me... I’m a guy who always kept his hair short but lately have let it grow out long enough to style (like 5 inches so I can comb it back, nothing crazy) and I went in saying something like “this is still a pretty new

Totally, because the reason I can’t afford my medical bills is because I ordered a latte from Starbucks once.

Of course, I’m just saying that the article kinda makes it look like he’s an idiot for thinking he could use a credit card to front the immediate expense then assume a moderate risk in how much of his investment is available for withdraw when really, that is a valid strategy depending on your risk tolerance. I’m not

I don’t think you’re being very fair to Vince. A lot of the rationale for having an emergency fund in addition to long-term savings is because you might need immediate access to emergency money. Good credit and a large credit card means you could use that to cover the immediate expense while it takes time to liquefy

I’ve been on the audiobook bandwagon for a long time and I always say the same two things 1) I used to think it was stupid until I tried it and learned that I loved it and 2) You would be surprised how quickly you can fly through a book even if you just listen in the car during quick errands. My previous commute had

I started a longer commute a few months ago which involves a 35 minute train ride and, from the jump, I made a committment that the train ride would not be for Instagram or Facebook or using my phone, but rather for reading. So far I’ve been doing pretty good but I admit that it’s harder than it sounds... My real

Agreed! That’s pretty much what my job is - coordinating the use of university space for all the summer programs!

Right? Related story, I was working with a summer program for high schoolers and I worked with their group to set up a campus tour and session with our admissions office. A few years later I interviewed a sophomore for an on-campus summer job and he said in his interview “the reason I came here is because a few years

And the pizza I ordered last weekend was still awesome, it was just a different kind of awesome. That’s the point.

Back in MY day, Pluto was a planet. Things change... Our terms to describe things change.

As an employee at a university, I would add: Don’t be afraid to stop someone and ask for directions, recommendations, where something is, etc. Most of us would be happy to stop and answer you as we walk across campus. Just don’t read too much into it if the student/faculty/staff you ask has no idea... doesn’t mean

That’s all fine, but a lot of that is personal and cultural preference. Some cultures find starting a meeting 5 minutes late because people kept chatting rude, some cultures find it rude to stop people from interacting to start a meeting. Some work environments care that you work exactly 8 hours of an 8 hour shift.

That is your opinion. I disagree with it and I don’t believe that you have the authority to speak for all people’s and cultures that constitute the US.

There are cultures that do not de-value being late. Cultures that don’t think it’s rude or problematic to be late.

Awesome thanks! Never done anything with a script before but I’ll look into it as that seems to accomplish pretty much exactly what I want!

Thanks. Thinking the best option for now would be to create rules to label things that can be deleted and then just manually purge all emails that fit that label every once and awhile. Not perfect... but meh.
