I know that the Grimm brothers’ work focused on this a bit - in how some stories were commonly shared and changed in certain ways from area to area... but it’s also crazy to think about the archetypal stories, the truly ancient stories that our ancestors must have told in Africa and that went with us spreading and

I love this because I love the thought of our ancestors sharing similar stories from village to village (each with their own twist perhaps) or, even further back, our ancient ancestors sharing similar stories from tribe to tribe, campfire to campfire. While access to the same books, TV, and film is awesome, it surely

As someone who was a history major and had to constantly defend the value of a history degree against my “more practical” friends and family... I’m curious if most people know that the United States already went through a period where it was illegal to criticize the government. That court cases settled the issue. That

Unless you literally have to travel from Point A to Point B together (sharing a car or something), I’ve always found the best practice to be upfront with the expectation that people are free to wander off. Meaning, as I spend a bunch of time at the museum interested in something the rest of the group is kind of over,

When you’ve annexed a territory and stayed there for 119 years, it sounds a little hollow to say that you can’t keep support and aid services there for more than a few months.

I’ll just say this: I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone (myself included) who said “wow, I wish I had waited longer to come out.”

You still-living elderly family can hear you too. Since I don’t live close to home, I didn’t get the chance to visit my grandmother too often in her last few years but, when I did, I always noticed how people talked about her in front of her. I understand that they were just used to it, but coming from the outside

Yeah, I could totally see my Mom wanting to text us about her garden with a bunch of eggplant and peach emojis... lol

Yup! There have been times when I’ve been using another app, struggle to find the emoji I’m looking for so I open iMessage, type the word, have it auto-correct it to the emoji, then copy and paste.

How there isn’t a search field for emoji is beyond me. Sometimes it’s easier to type out the word in an iMessage just to have it find the appropriate emoji for you when you select over to the emoji keyboard.

I wouldn’t be surprised if their target market are parents who realize that things are easier if they pay more to have it delivered instead of running out to store and also, people who (truly or not) believe that they already save so much at Costco that they can pay a 30% upcharge and still “break even.”

I don’t really have a problem with them flying on private jets. I just think that they can pay with their own credit card and the taxpayers can reimburse them up to the amount of a standard coach class ticket. Or, if it’s a hassle to be expected to pay upfront for work travel and get reimbursed (though many of us have

It really is the best deal... I mean, even if it weren’t, even if it were expensive, it is still something you should have. But, it’s so cheap... I always tell college students and young adults I know to make it a priority to get it (sometimes college students are covered under parent’s home owner’s policy but

Yeah, good question. They could go with a “we will credit you for your Netflix subscription at a max of $x a month.” But that doesn’t have the wow factor. That being said, do they already pay for your 4k 4-streams at a time plan or just the basic or the one in between? My point being, I could totally see them saying

I still say, the two things that have had the best value for the amount spent in my life are Netflix and Renters Insurance.

Right? It’s so handy!

Criminals don’t follow the law. All this does it make it so that law-abiding citizens get in trouble while criminal doctors are still going to provide abortions. It makes no sense. Wait... sorry, that was an argument about why we shouldn’t pass anti-gun laws.

One of my favorite things is that (for iOS anyway) you can configure different email accounts to have different notification settings. For my personal email, I hate to have unread messages. Even having one or two emails flagged as “unread” (which is my way of saying I have to get to it later) drives me crazy. But my

This alone is almost reason enough to promote learning a second language. I would say that most of the English grammar I learned came from learning Spanish. In part, because to learn a second language not as a native tongue you need to learn their grammar and thus are introduced to concepts you might have just picked

I was really shocked when I found out that my local library had museum passes. It’s such a good deal!
