This bigotry has been Gawker-approved.

Like many things in math and science, there are multiple, mutually agreeable and acceptable ways to look at it. Examining wing behavior from the standpoint of impulse & reaction is valid, as is working from within the paradigm of pressure.

They teach that contact patch size doesn't matter, also. And it's all true, given the gross linearized ideal friction model they teach, but real friction has higher order terms. Someone long ago decided that getting that concept across to college freshman wasn't worth it, but rather than admit it's a simplified model,

UPDATE: WHO CARES

"Science popularizer" is a more important job title than many actual scientists want to admit.

That's my guess (as a physicist as well). It's often a given in elementary physics that the maximum possible coefficient of friction is 1. I remember arguing—yes arguing— with a professor when I told him the newest (at the time) Corvette could do better than 1.0g on the skidpad. Now NDGT is clearly beyond elementary

Ash, it's way too early to be that drunk... but still, I like your style.

Well today is your lucky day, then!

The All-electric

Legally-usable? You're from Gawker, dangit!

Classic car ownership can be a beautiful experience, but when people buy the wrong car, they will start lying. And it never stops.

Well that settles it then! I don't know what all these people are so upset about.

We physicists recognized this troublesome trend long ago and solved it by coining the word "dynamical" to mean what dynamic used to mean.

CF production costs should drop about the time we have efficient nuclear fusion. The best estimates say it's about 30 years off.

"Oh, so it's not a Neon at all, it's an SRT-4, huh? Well how do you distinguish it from the SRT-4 that looks exactly like a Caliber?"

From the standpoint of fundamental economics, that statement is not controversial at all.

JINBA ITTAI!

The thing is, I would sit and listen to you for quite a long time....

In all fairness, it doesn't have to be a space robot. That guy would be just at home on Captain Nemo's Nautilus.

Nah. Martin Scorsese as Enzo.
