One of the movies I wrote while in film school (have screenwriting degree from USC, which I’ve discussed here in excess) had a main character who was black and another who was Latina. A manager I met with after graduating told me that those “casting choices” I wrote into the script would be “too hard to sell” because

I was neither pregnant nor caring for a newborn when I watched the show, but it still made me cry like a child. I had to watch when my boyfriend wasn’t home because he hated it as well haha. My BFF and I would just text each other sadface emojis while watching instead.

Could you speak to her parents or guardian? Her school counselor or special ed proxy?

Why do you think Sara’s family fought so hard for her to get this kid, then? That’s the one thing I can’t really wrap my head around, especially since they’ve already admitted the majority of childcare is done by them.

Or an IUD, or just told her what condoms were and gave her access to them, or taught her about informed consent...

Where was I supporting the decision made here? I was simply saying her inability to read and tell time was a major factor the Child Services folk used to justify taking the baby away...

You mentioned “time math” which often refers to using an analog clock to visualize time passed/time remaining. And if you can’t read an analog clock, no, I don’t think you can “tell time.” You can read numbers. I could read numbers off a digital clock before I learned how to read an analog clock, too.

...but she couldn’t read or tell time. That was the problem.

Her parents honestly failed their daughter by not teaching her how to protect herself and not end up pregnant. They should have known she was mentally unfit to raise a child and done everything in their power to teach their daughter about sexual health.

Goddamnit, I miss that show :(

Ew, I can’t take any adult who likes them seriously. They are garbage people who take credit for “finding” bands that they poach from other labels, pay their bands little to nothing at all, etc etc etc. The tween slumber party is just the tip of the iceberg.

They were. That’s why it’s weird. I have posted and talked about it a lot, but people here don’t want to make enemies with Burger. They control too much.

For starters, they hosted a slumber party at the store for teenaged and 20 something girls under the guise of “feminism yay!” They are men in their 30s — and at the time...they lived in the back of the store.

I’ve been to many music festivals in my day, and have yet to see any “smoothies.” If the Bratz are really acting like teens at Coachella, that “smoothie” is an adult beverage laced with MDMA.

Word. This article rubbed me the wrong way. Where am I supposed to get this magical “fuck off fund” when my income just barely covers rent, gas and bills for the month. This is already after I’m neglecting to pay my credit card and student loans. I think the Fuck Off Funds is really only attainable by women with

Also, Judy and Beth are amazing people. I’m happy you were able to speak with them xx

We probably run in similar circles. I’m sorry you were assaulted and harassed by Heathdouche.

Goddamnit, if Ringo is the last one standing I’m gonna be PISSED.

I’m almost 28 and I’m fucking terrified that, by the time I’m ready, it’ll be too fucking late. 30 is just on the horizon, and with a younger partner, it’s unlikely that a baby will come with the big 3-0 (because we like sleeping in and stuff).

Example of something that did this well: South Park.
