But they’re not anymore, that’s the thing. Study has gone into them, we better understand the mechanics behind how digitalis extracts works at a molecular level (it inhibits particular enzymes), why something like a fecal transplant can help (microbiomes). While I agree that obviously there are useful treatments that…
Wow. If you’re trolling, it’s grade a trolling. If not... Wow
This site may be “for women” but it’s not “for never criticizing anything women do b/c they’re women so we always have to support them.” If those herbal remedies are effective, they will hold up in clinical trials.
Yup, I had a non-medicated vaginal birth with midwives (they’re university educated and provincially regulated in Canada). I tried to complete it at home but my midwives called the baby as being stuck and got me to the hospital 5 minutes away, where I proceeded to have the baby 45 minutes later, still with my…
Digestive enzymes won’t do squat for reflux. It’s not a problem with digestion. It’s a problem with reflux, and it’s usually structural. You should probably consult with a pediatric gastroenterologist. Have a swallow study done at least; that’s pretty noninvasive. Kid just has to stand in front of a fluoroscope while…
Because hospitals are businesses that compete with other hospitals for your money? And if they can incorporate “lifestyle-type” things like “integrative medicine”, they get more money, more often?
Dr. Amy is legitimately crazy, too, but I got into a discussion about this earlier on a mommy/pregnancy board because I am 7 weeks pregnant. We’ve already decided we will not breastfeed (we had decided that before our last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage). I told friends that I would not be breastfeeding or co…
Moms who have not experienced this type of judgement from other women (“oh you poor thing, you had to have a c-section? I don’t know how I’d live with myself if I couldn’t breastfeed. I mean, that would be tantamount to child abuse!”) don’t really understand wwhat Amy Tuteur is trying to accomplish. These attitudes…
I think the buzzword they use is integrative medicine. It’s a way for woo-woo peddlers to have their services accepted by insurance companies.
Integrative Medicine is quackery with a shiny new name:
People like you are exactly why we have anti-vaxxers now.
I will never, ever apologize for attacking pseudo-scientific bullshit because I’ve watched people die as a direct result. Anything with an ounce of actual medical use should be double-blind tested, studied thoroughly in falsifiable lab conditions, and…
I hope the placebo effect outweighs the risks you may be taking with “herbal” remedies.
Other articles have said that the kids dad is actually related to (son of?) the owner of the supplement company. So there’s the cynical possibility they were treating their kid as a poster child for their product/lifestyle and refused to let any normal doctor tell them it was all bullshit.
There is no such thing as “complementary medicine”. There is Medicine and there is Bullshit. If “complementary medicine” had any basis at all in scientific fact, it would be called “medicine”.
So, no, Naturopaths remain snake oil salesmen of the highest order.
They should treat them. To an ice cream cone after their pediatrician’s appointment.
Snake oil salesmen (and that’s essentially what these kind of naturopaths are) are very charming and convincing and I can entirely buy that these people thought they were doing what was best for their kid. I’m sure s/he had available legitimate looking “studies” from “journals” and “websites.”
I don’t know about criminal charges, but their other children need to be taken away. These white people get to keep their children, meanwhile Native American families have an uphill battle getting theirs back from white foster parents who never had the option to adopt. FFS.
Yikes! Being pulled over by myself at night is my number one nightmare situation with a cop. You’re completely at their mercy.
I think it’s more likely that this is a rapist cop who used a false name than a non-cop rapist who managed to steal or make a police cruiser and uniform.
