We had that happen. We have two rescue cats. One was a 12 year old male, that they said was a shy low energy old man, and the other was a 2 year old stray female he bonded with.

I can’t believe the black cat prejudice. People just think they’re unlucky, ugly, or etc., etc. But the shelter I got my black cat from photographs black cats on a white background, so they show better, and I think that really helps.

This seems like such a great idea. I am crazy about our dog, but my personality probably causes her stress and encourages her worst habits/behavior. I wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world, and I’m pretty sure she “feels” the same way. She was a gift, but if I had chosen I probably would have chosen differently.
