It’s just that doing drugs is a way worse crime than attacking women.

I had a friend who was murdered by a serial killer. He got caught and the night he was executed (because we live in Texas) I had one of the most restful sleeps of my life.
We could easily solve the mass incarceration problem by not incarcerating *non* violent offenders. Stop jailing people for being addicted to drugs, failing to pay court fines, being homeless etc. so when guys like this show up, we can lock him up and throw away the key.
It’s not so much the execution drug that’s expensive, it’s the years and years of sitting on death row (expensive) while multiple appeals (expensive) take place. I believe death row inmates have a longer life expectancy than people in for life.
It looks like he committed the assault in December of 2013 and stole the car/possessed the crossbow after being released from jail in September of 2014. So, he almost killed a woman after showing increasingly erratic and violent behavior and serves *less* than a year. Then, after being realized and refusing to sign a…
What the hell. If I’m understanding this correctly he committed multiple crimes before murdering 3 women. But he served less than a year for assault and stealing a car?
There are times when I question my belief that the death penalty has no place in a modern, developed, progressive nation.
Amazing just how much leway a man like this gets. A long history of violence and still he’s afforded every chance to continously attack women. There is no punishment strong enough to fit this crime, and my heart goes out to all of the victims and their loved ones.
Yes, you are 100% correct. The costumes shouldn’t even be gendered to begin with. I just don’t understand the company’s need to escalate this into some big issue when they could have just sent her a letter saying “thanks for your suggestions” and then forget about it. OR, even better, they could actually stop…
I’m totally behind this woman, and I think it’s awesome that this is getting attention, but I always wish these arguments would go even further. Yes, girls should be allowed and encouraged to dress up as train conductors and firefighters and so on. BUT ALSO, boys should be encouraged to dress up as Elsa from enchanted…
Yes, people can buy which gender they want but that doesn’t change the fundamental problem that throughout our society costumes, toys and just about everything else is gendered unnecessarily. There’s no need to have “boy” costumes and “girl” costumes at all, honestly. We don’t complain because we can’t just buy a boy…
I was a lion several years running. Man, I loved that costume. I HAD A TAIL.
Dear Treasured and Valuable Customer,
Here’s a crazy idea: Why bother sorting them by gender at all? Why not divide them by Occupation, Fantasy, Scary, that sort of thing?
You know, I get it. I’m a relative newcomer to the whole makeup THING (I’ve worn it for a long time, but always in a slapdash sort of way; I’ve only recently started paying attention to quality of product, technique and tools of application, etc). While I think it’s fun to use makeup, and a get a certain thrill out of…
I don’t like agreeing with everything our authors think. Also, I read that as hyperbole.
I appreciate that this piece is taking a critical look at an extreme case of a current makeup trend. I think it’s important to point out that the preoccupation with makeup can take a toxic turn, and paying thousands of dollars to a for-profit beauty school in hopes of getting more attention on Instagram is probably…
Jumping in here to say that Millihelen doesn’t publish just one type of story for one type of person. We talk about makeup in an number of ways from a number of perspectives because there are a number of perspectives and a number of ways to use it. Sometimes you’ll be on the side of the author, sometimes you won’t. We…
