I think I had one of these engines in my MK1. The car had 400k miles (gas engine) so I’m guessing it was replaced. 8v SOHC - but the cam only had three caps holding it in... nobody could identify the part numbers on the head.

The Lincoln can do the “touring” part better anyway.

The whole rally car registered for road use is a pain in CA when you have rally cars from the 80's...

Also, I’m surprised he had to retire from the event. Was always under the impression those teams had amazing mechanics/resources available (or even a spare car!).

He’s probably stuck somewhere in a $10 Mercedes.
