I don’t understand your point. This is a group that is claiming at least some of its members have standing and are damaged by a sex-discriminatory law. The ACLU agrees, and is representing them, because that kind of thing is their mission. Are you saying that the ACLU has an obligation to audition alternative

Young people can do Peace Corps too. And hell, mandatory service can be even more important when we olds do it and bring our wisdom and need to stay active to the table. Look at the elders in Japan who volunteered to clean up after Fukishima.

Maggie needs to stay relevant now that her access ticket is out of the WH.

Why limit it to young people?

I’d be happy to see Selective Service registration abolished just so MRAs would lose a talking point.

“I’m too old to give a shit about sexism affecting young women anymore” is quite a take.

Even people with relatively normal brain function are excellent at rationalizing away the ‘fun’ things they want to do. We all know that guy who won’t shut up about keto but makes up dumb-ass reasons he can still eat french fries.

That, or a common garden vegetable.

It’s not strange; the claim is that a man required to register for Selective Service would not have had to do so if he were a woman, which is straight-up gender discrimination. Failure to register comes with a host of penalties, and IIRC is a crime.

The point of the lawsuit isn’t really to draft women; it’s to get rid of mandatory Selective Service registration altogether on the grounds that it’s discriminatory.

“Rape is cool as long as the victim had it coming” was never a good take.

Yes. As has been pointed out by people who aren’t shits working for the Post, in American hotels it’s very common for room choices to be either one king bed or two queen beds.

But this isn’t about a “dictionary definition”. This is about a revision of what Ted Bundy did and how he acted. For example: you keep talking about Bundy persuading women to get into his car. What actually happened is that he faked having a disability (arm in a cast, using crutches) or impersonated a police officer

This town used to be named East Detroit, until the (white) residents decided it made them look bad to have ‘Detroit” in the name and voted to change it. Just so it’s clear what kind of place we’re talking about.

I realize this is piling on, but I do not think it can be hammered home often enough that “women cooperated because he was hawt” is a lie that erases exactly how forcefully women are socialized to be compliant and cooperative with men, and punished if they are not. Remember Elevatorgate?

THIS. And by ‘childhood trauma’ the majority of them had horrific early lives that meant they were never going to develop empathy or the ability to have normal relationships in adulthood. That’s not an excuse, just an observation.

I’m puzzled by this idea that rich people are exempt from most of the usual parole requirements because it’s obvious what they’ll do on release?

He also won because his ‘socially liberal, fiscally conservative’ message appealed to centrists.

The GOP in California is not exactly a well-oiled machine helmed by the best and brightest.

Maybe not - he kicked a male student in the balls. Reactionary Christians will forgive a lot of things, but they strongly frown on grown men touching teenage boys’ genitals in any way, lest they catch The Gay.
