Good point. Taurus was actually changed to the Ford 500 at one point, but i’m guessing they changed it back because no one knows WTF a 500 is, and the Taurus name had been around forever. In the end, they both died at the hands of the CUV-pocalypse.

You just have to look at the name. Ford Cars start with an “F” (Focus, Fusion, Fiesta), Ford CUVs start with an “E” (Escape, Edge, Explorer).

Lots of them fly without incident. The local aerodrome near me flies several WWII vintage planes during the summer, and they undergo heavy maintenance during the off season. Stuff like this happens, whether the plane is old or not.

I feel the need, the need for Lockheed!

had to be.

Y’all might be surprised at how much time and effort goes into placing your rearview mirror on the windshield. All sorts of engineering involved to meet field of view targets and make sure you can see ahead of you, and behind, as well as making the thing look good, and then some doofus goes and hangs an air freshener,

Automakers go to alot of trouble to make sure you have an unobstructed view of the road, such as placing mirrors and windshield trim covers out of your Field of View. Engineers spend hours of time and money on this, and then people go hanging shit in the way, air fresheners, roseries, fuzzy dice etc. Its frustrating,

I’ll take a Muldoon Clever Girl Edition...

The advantage is vertical space my dude. That bike just plops over the back in a truck, instead of having to remove the front wheel and stuff it into your outback.

Packaging a spare in the front of a modern car, even an EV would be a nightmare. You people want a frunk, you want AC that cools you, you want Heat that heats you, you want batteries that don’t overheat, 12000 ftlbs of instant torque, good crash rating and a million other bells and whistles, AND you want a spare tire

That’s nice, but can we talk about how they’re making everything smaller but the prices aren’t changing? Things that used to be 16 oz are now 14 oz, but cost the same. We’re getting fewer chips in a bag, fewer cookies in a pack, smaller canned goods, its infuriating.

the appeal of a smooth-running junky bike I couldn’t care less about

Your not wrong, but “Ford” could be replaced with any other OEM (or large company in general) and the sentiment would be the same.

Fellow “west of Detroit” resident here, and i can tell you no one outside of Big 10 sports knows what Ann Arbor is, i usually have to say Detroit Area to give people an idea. You are not a Detroiter, but you’re not NOT a Detroiter...

That last little bit about alignment is interesting. Looking at a map of Detroit the road alignments look super funky. There was an article on here a few years ago with an old timey movie explaining it, but its fascinating how city planning changes through time.

The million other things you need an ID for are not rights guaranteed by the constitution.

I emailed to complain about the slide shows once, and the reply i got was “Commenters are a tiny fraction of the traffic we see so we don’t care if you’re pissed off

Española getting a shout out! They recently opened a Low Rider museum. I haven’t seen it yet, next time i’m home i’m planning to go.

My parents had one of these for years, i’ve spent many many hours riding in and driving it, sleeping in it, getting stuck, backing into things, breaking the back window, driving over curbs, stuffing it to the gills with gear and people. One of the most useful vehicles i’ve ever driven, but whoooooo boy is it thirsty.

Yeah i knew some people who stayed home because of her. They figured there was no way trump would win and their protest vote wouldn’t harm anyone...
