The song was "The Wonder of You," and its lyrics are all about wonderment that someone like her would love someone like him. The choice of song, plus the way he sang it, made me think it was a conciliatory gesture. Like I said, that was all in my head. But I do think, based on their conversation from Episode 6, he

The most charitable reading on that is the actor is just THAT good in portraying that particular character that he or she manages to blur the line between acting and reality.

This is off-topic but it reminds me of an interview with Tom McCarthy, who played Scott Templeton the reporter in The Wire, in which he said that people - including criminals - have come up to him in the street and told him they want to punch him in the face. He thought it was amusing that literally every other

Yeah, I still don't know what Bonnie or Madeline saw in him. I am totally on Ed's side in this "are you threatening me?" game they were playing.

This is such a wonderful comment. Bonnie didn't need to know everyone's backstory. She just saw a woman being hurt and reached out to stop it. That's all she needed to know, and it didn't matter whether it was someone who didn't like her or had been petty to her. She just helped a fellow human being in need of help.

You're right! I misremembered the songs. But I thought they DID get Chris Isaak for Nathan's song, at least according to Vallee's interview w/ Vulture, where he flat-out says neither Adam Scott nor the actor who played Nathan could sing for shit, even though they tried really hard.

I assumed they were trying to spare Bonnie and Celeste the stress of a trial altogether, and having to lay bare Celeste's abuse. I mean, couldn't you see those Gossip Moms salivating over those details?

"there are many people suffering abuse about whom we will never learn."

I kind of agree with the affair. It lends some depth to the trouble beneath the surface of her marriage, where she's actually married the nice guy after the bad boy leaves her, but she grows bored with nice, even if she does love him. You can be married to someone you love, but sometimes you feel like you're not IN

Well, it's sort of her job…

I KNEW i recognized Chris Isaak!

Oh, this explains a lot. Thanks for that!

I loved the blizzard of camera flashes greeting everyone as they walked the red carpet. Like, who is taking that many photos of a bunch of suburban couples at a school fundraiser? It's not a movie premiere!

In my head, Madeline doesn't tell Ed about the affair, but he already knows and has forgiven her (the Elvis song he chose is him telling her he forgives her). I actually thought he already knew, when she came near to confessing in the previous episode, saying she'd made a big mistake and he stopped her from

She visited a man with the same first name but a different last name. It's not immediately clear in the moment whether it's the same man, but when she got back to Monterey, told Madeline it wasn't the same guy (this was in episode 6).

Yes, that sobbing confessional in the car, where he swears he'll change, he'll get help, he has a rage he's trying to control, was both frightening and pitiful. I could see how someone who loves him might be persuaded that it was genuine and want to give him another chance. But good for Celeste for being strong enough

All the yeses to your Point 1. I didn't realize it was an actual spoiler til last night, I just figured it was speculation. Such an a**hole.

I think the commenter thinks the point of the show was the murder, when the point is actually the drama of these women's lives. The murder is secondary.

My husband and I gasped in unison and both sat straight up when he said that.

Whoever it was sounded a lot like Chris Isaak.
