Yes, I still dislike the teacher intensely, but she wasn't terrible in this episode. She met Jane outside the school environment because she was aware of gossip, and she acknowledged she saw no indication that Ziggy was actually bullying Ammabella. And she acknowledged that recommending a visit to the therapist was

Man, I hope not, because I still like Ed (although he's creeping me out big-time now), but I hated Noah from the start. I wouldn't go by me, though. I quit The Affair in the first season because Noah and Allison were just exhausting.

Maybe Renata knew she didn't have a legal leg to stand on and was just hoping the mayor wouldn't (and he obviously didn't, mainly because he didn't seem to give a crap about the theater anyway, let alone what kind of productions it stages), but she didn't count on Madeline actually bringing a lawyer to the meeting,

The Greek chorus is veering into parody. Those "we don't know ANYTHING about this Poor who drives a crappy car" comments are so over-the-top it's ridiculous.

I hope Jane gives the psychologist's assessment to the teacher, if only to disabuse her of the notion that Ziggy's the bully, and in fact, might be being bullied (starting with that public shame circle at orientation day).

I suspect she didn't really believe it, just hoped that the mayor would be swayed by the argument. I imagine no one's seen Celeste's lawyerly skills, so Renata didn't expect her to roll right over that argument so deftly.

I think the fact that The Affair involved the same story told from different perspectives also made critics swoon, even though it turned out all we got was the same not-that-interesting story told from the points of view of universally terrible people.

And his characterization of his daughter's friend as "the stupid one." That's charming. I hate that now Abigail's been living with him for all of a week, he thinks acting like a parent just consists of grilling her on where she's going and when she'll be home, like a sitcom parent.

Oh my god, that ENRAGED me. And I don't even have kids.

Someone pointed out upthread that Jane actually met Nathan, though, at the orientation day. I'd dearly love for him to be the victim, b/c he seems a bad person, but I don't think he's the rapist.

It hadn't occurred to me that Ziggy might be being bullied as well as Ammabella. That could explain that dark look he gave her in the classroom, the one that the teacher (who I have hated since the first episode but didn't hate this week - she showed a hair more sensitivity this go-round, and her suggestion of a child

For me, it was the jewelry drawers, on top of the jewelry displayed on the counters, literally like they're displayed in a shop. I want it and judge it in equal measure.

And just like that, I went from sympathizing with Renata in last week's episode, to disliking her again just from that scene in the mayor's office, where her laugh (omg, her laugh!) was like fingernails on a chalkboard. You know everyone else in the room was silently thinking, 'c'mon, try to suck up just a little more

I have this sinking feeling Chris Pine may be the only thing that makes this film watchable, given the track record on previous DC comics movies.

You have In n Out to comfort you, at least! The rest of us just have to suffer in silence. (or in angry, loud comment-typing)

I've also never figured out why "snowflake" was supposed to hurt. I know it's an insult but it's a pretty weak one. Snowflakes are pretty!

What about "Use the bathroom that you are comfortable in" was so difficult? Why the need to legislate what wasn't a problem before? It's not easy to "use the bathroom that matches the plumbing" when you are mid-transition and wearing makeup and heels, having to go to the men's bathroom. Or if you are a 12-year-old

Nicely done.

No, it's conservatives who are making a deal out of it. They are the ones pushing through laws in states like Texas and North Carolina that would stigmatize transgender students and force them to use bathrooms they don't identify with. It's liberals who are trying to protect those students' rights.
Last I checked, it

Guess what, we women are already subject to creeps OUTSIDE the bathroom. Why don't you help us work on that problem first?
