The MK7 is an especially well designed version of the GTI. I was never a serious fan of the GTI until this latest version came out.

Couldn’t agree more. From what I’ve heard, the Si will not be available in hatch form and even if it were, it still wouldn’t have the same cargo volume as the Golf.

You’re absolutely right. I was confusing the “Driving Mode Selector” with “DCC”.

I agree with the shifter for sure, but the new GTI Sport includes most of the above (less the hydraulic steering) and does it for a very competitive price.

I think the Si can compete as a better overall package than the Fiesta ST, but not against the Focus ST which can be had in the mid $20s with many of the tidbits most people want. Unfortunately, neither ST includes an LSD (which the Focus desperately needs).

While I don’t disagree, the body doesn’t bode well with smaller wheels. That’s a failing of the design more than anything else.
