You’re right, but disassembling a rotary is also a pretty simple affair.

There are plenty of piston engines that rely on timing belts that don’t have a 200k mile life and will destroy the engine if they break.

The Prius was cool. It was the car to be seen in if you were environmentally “conscious”. The Tesla replaced the Prius as far as cool goes in that department.

Funny that a Ferrari v8 from the 355 pops its timing belt every 17k miles and ruins the engine.

Mazda engineers were quoted as saying that the 787 did not require a rebuild after their 24 LeMans win (considering the condition of the internals).

Most rotaries built for racing are very reliable and one of their appeals is that they don’t need to be rebuilt after heavy abuse.

I personally don’t like the design direction Mercedes has taken with the new front grille.

Seeing a Veyron in person completely changed my perception of the car. It’s stunning to behold from just about every angle. A beautiful car indeed.

I regret selling my ‘90 Talon TSi AWD. Fantastic car considering its age.

The Z/28 uses the 7.0 lump. Hardly old school tech.

Import it from Japan and it’s kinda Japanese.

6G’s are stout motors. Arguably as strong as the 2JZ, but was stuffed in the most cramped engine bay. Monitor heat levels, get a great custom tune with EvoIII 16G’s and you’re on your way to making over 500awhp with no problem.

lol and a timing belt change. BUT - this will be a collectors car and if you can find one in perfect condition, it would behoove you to keep it that way (if you care about that kind of stuff).

This is the correct answer.

At least a Busa engine, but definitely a GE LM-2500 gas turbine.

I don’t think the ultimate goal was to be in pole position against performance competitors. This is, afterall, a Lexus - luxury is at the core of their value differential. According to this review, this car accomplishes its luxury goals while still being able to deliver performance in spades.

I think it’s a combo - good driver/good car. The SRT-4 is extremely competent. I think the only reason people didn’t take them seriously was due to their badge. (And that weird front passenger power windows, rear passenger manual windows)

SRT-4 is not exactly a slouch in the performance section. Didn’t the 04+ have limited slip? That should be more than enough to be competitive against the cars you mentioned.

Doesn’t look like anyone mentioned it, but the BMW side vents. Throwback to the 507 and 3.0 CS E9

That’s a quirky looking car. I like it.
