There's nothing particularly controversial about 12 Years a Slave's "slavery is bad" theme.

HA! I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE

It's visible for less than half a second, but there is a house with a smoking chimney present in the very last shot, way in the distance. Just in case anybody's still worried about Ryan.

I'm not sure how the opening take was actually filmed, but considering that so much of the film was CGI, it's very likely that many of the long takes were artificially fused together from shorter ones. That's not to say it's not Oscar-worthy, as it's still very difficult to do what they did.

Although it's definitely arguable that Gravity was overscored (this was Cuarón's decision, not Price's), the composition of the score itself undeniably took a heck of a lot of skill.

I hadn't realized that this guy was also the one that came up with the unified Pixar theory. That's unsurprising. Jeez, why do people keep giving this doofus hits?

Oh God, A.V. Club, not you too.

"he’dn’t’ve"

Thank you for not using the "Everything is Awesome for The Lego Movie!" headline that every single other publication has done.

Marsellus, not Marcellus. Common mistake.

I actually almost downvoted you just then, but then I saw all the supportive replies and I chickened out

Is this their only job?

What the heck is with the grappling hook (and other random objects) hitting everyone, and with the same exact sound effect every time? The outtakes are perfectly funny without it, and these repetitive "punchlines" kind of ruin it.

Oh look one of them just did me now

Okay, so there are two specific people thumbing-down each and everyone of these comments, and I want to know who

Probably some dumb thirteen-year-old thought it would be funny.

I don't even know why I'm so sad over this guy's death. I only saw two of his movies, and one of them was The Hunger Games. Hoffman was just so damn cool.

Whether it was Doubt or even The Hunger Games, every scene with him in it became automatically awesome.
