I actually love cheap jolt scares, but hardly any of the ones in The Conjuring actually jolted me for some reason. Perhaps I got desensitized.
I would be ticked off by this (like I was by the announcement of the X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover, and by Batman vs. Superman), but at least the Sinister Six and Venom are already very closely associated with Spider-Man in existing canon.
A C-minus seems a little harsh, judging by the tone of this review. The A.V. Club must not have gotten into the ratings groove quite yet.
