What do people think of "Outside" by Staind, anyway?

Linkin Park had many more melodic and less screamy/angsty songs than those other guys. I mean, "In the End" was characterized by a piano riff.

Seriously, everyone read Stereogum's thoughtful dissection of Nickelback, because it's not actually about Nickelback, but America:

I quite enjoyed Stereogum's evaluation of Nickelback, because it actually analyzed what they represented in terms of our polarized American society:

Glad to hear that CoD was going to go the opposite trajectory from the nascent Gladiator series.

Maybe the joke is that he's so bad at jokes, his buddy's nowhere to be found.

If we could colonize Mars, we could have polar cities, too.

I'm super bummed because I thought the space Mormon was played by Pat Cassels from College Humor, and he was not.

Amazing. This entire comment thread of 54, and not a single one about the actual movie.

What the hell kind of nerds have you been hanging out with?

Littlefinger needs to take revenge against the Lannisters at some point for killing Cat.

Along came a Red Priest, who decides, why not, let's create a walking pile of ash and bone.

I definitely dig the video for "Mr. Brightside" more, though.

Tastes are subjective and so forth, but for reference, what kind of music did you like from that era?

I've always liked Byron Crawford's description of them in his review of their track on Timbaland's album:

Agreed, but they always show up in these lists, probably because they have "the" in the name and their name sounds like the Hives.

I would still listen to Super Hans' supergroup with Hard-Fi and Kaiser Chiefs.
