So, was every other color commentator in the league unavailable? Martinez is brutal. Mentions that Ty Cobb's playing style was emblematic of those early Tigers' teams, as if he had some sort of first person analysis.

His final at bat, and he couldn't make a decent effort to run it out? Obviously moot, but...

I pitched 4 years of D-1 college ball, and was hit with 3 line drives; hip (gun registered the hit at 107), shin, and calf. And each time, it shook me - more mentally than physically. I loved nothing more than getting the ball every weekend, and this being my first year not pitching since 1998, I miss it.

Does Kim Rhode have a legitimate chance to repeat as gold medalist in 2016? What about LeBron James et al. next year?

I also have a huge East Coast bias. I'd go:

My absolute favorite on the album - always. #2 switches b/w B.B.B. and Shadrach, but Car Thief is always #1.

Certainly these commissioners understand that gambling boosts ratings and revenues for their leagues, right? For guys so fixed on the $, you would think that they'd be more apt to turn away from the action.

Ha, I think I read something you wrote on The Onion today!

I have no dog in the fight, but I hope he stays in Seattle. I just worry he's in a Catch-22 in the minds of ignorant baseball fans. If he leaves, it'll be "all about the money." If he stays, some might view him as a pitcher who couldn't and doesn't want to handle the big stage. I think that whatever choice he ends up

You mean thee prominent John Amaechi? 6.2 PPG of prominence? 5 years in the league?

It's not shortsighted to want high profile figures to help raise money. It's shortsighted to assume that athletes bound to multiple contracts/labor agreements that prevent them from playing basketball in unsanctioned/unregulated games would break these accords (lest they/their teams face a fine).

I would agree that they screwed them by doing this last second, but for this charity to depend on current NBA players to play in an exhibition game may have been shortsighted on their part.

Yea, this was pretty good.

Ha, shows how lame those medium-sized cities are. In my medium-large sized city, there are infinity bars.

The leagues themselves are, but in terms of a world champion, the winner of global tournaments (Japan, WBC '06/'09) has a more logical claim to the title than a competition that only takes place in one country.

There are no 320,000 capacity stadiums.

So... shouldn't the Paterno statue come down today? Or, better yet, what would it say about Penn State if they left it up?

"It's not for me to make policy judgements here so I'll punt on this one. I will say this though. As long as there is a double standard where an 18 year old Dominican player is considered over the hill and is devalued, and an 18 year old american player has just become eligible you are going to have equity problems."

It seems like MLB is disputing a smoking gun. Like you noted, Selig said that he never viewed the film. Aside from that, how can a person or organization dispute recorded information? What exactly are they denying?
