This took a lot of guts to publish — really great article.

I have some familiarity with “creative accounting” in media companies. It does not surprise me that you’re being told that GMG is not turning a profit. It is common practice for executives to hide expenses in the budgets of departments and units that they consider low priority, thereby boosting the bottom line for…
I was wondering why my phone didn’t crash 8 times while reading it! That explains it!
Dragging the parent company is one thing. Running it without ads takes brass balls. Well done guys.
including at GMG, the staff of which fears the newsroom may be cut by up to a third by the end of June, perhaps as part of a broader pivot toward video and branded content.
Man this is tough to read. I really want the GMG team to be successful. I’ve been an avid reader for years, and while there are a lot of things to criticize I still read Deadspin, Jalopnik and Lifehacker religiously. They’re not perfect at their job but the first two are not as bro-y as the competition, while…

“Mr. Stark, I don’t wanna go. I don’t wanna go” I WAS AND AM STILL A MESS EVEN IF HE’S COMING BACK.
I loved it. Had a blast the whole time. I thought it did a really good job of balancing funny with emotional. That last Stark/Parker scene HURT.
Some other Fahey greats:
My favorite Mike Fahey story is second hand. He was at Comic-Con, sometime before 2011. He and McWhertor were down there together. Mike had saved up his dough to buy a bunch of toys from the floor and I guess he went there after the panels were done on Saturday. McWhertor came back to the room and found Mike laying on…
At GDC last month, there was a fantastic talk given by the game’s creators on how the arcade classic NBA Jam came to…
No you’re right, a decade’s worth of build up to this even is totally the same as shoving 6 characters together only half of whom we’ve ever met before against a generic CGI monster with no motivations or pathos is totally the same thing.
