A lot of trans folks never take hormones either. The idea of how to divide up competition needs a lot more consideration.

The fact that “responsible gun enthusiasts” - especially the owners/managers of a gun shop who are supposed to be the goodest, most responsibleist, and most level-headed of all the gun tribe - enthusiastically market a weapon that’s just been instrumental in the deaths of 50 civilians in a non-combat zone reeaaallly

I think some people are under the impression that assault weapons are hard to come by, or that you need a 3 day waiting period. This eliminates the point that getting a gun could take time, and shows the truth in that Homer gif, if you’re angry now, you can get a gun ASAP. It's timely and appropriate.

I think a lot of people assume there’s more to buying a gun than there is. It’s easier than buying a car. It’s easier than buying a washing machine. It’s very, very easy. It’s shocking to a lot of people.

What excellent timing too!

To show how easy it is to buy a weapon of war. Thats the point not to hard to understand.

I must have missed the amendment to the constitution guaranteeing coffee drinks.

Gun of the week?????? WTF!!!! Its not a freaking sandwich

Your thoughts are well articulated but totally off the mark. This person was substantially under sentenced for a crime that is gravely under prosecuted and under-reported and for which there is a tremendous risk of recidivism. The situation is made worse by the fact that this criminal enjoyed every privilege that

Unlikely to reoffend!?!?!?!?!?!?!? For all you know, it’s the first time he got caught. Get upset about mass incarceration all you want - it’s a huge problem - but this guy is exactly the sort of person who SHOULD be doing time.

The first and most important point of having a prison is to keep dangerous people away from the general public.

As Ta-Nehisi Coates explained:

I find that I am completely ok with demonising this particular parent for trying to get his rapist spawn off with a slap on the wrist.

fun fact he was a piece of shit in another rape case in ~2008-2009

Black men aren’t just in jail for “drug stuff” though. Nor is mass incarceration a Black thing, or a male thing. We have absolutely absurd numbers of women in prison too. More than any other country on earth. And many of them are there for violent crimes, same as the men.

That discussion is for the consideration of non-violent offenders. Not for rapists. Is your comment a joke? Am I missing something?

What a thoughtful and well-written response. I’ve said this a lot in conversations with friends, but this juror’s statement is another example of how this was a “good” case - as in, there were eye witnesses, the police did what they should have done, the jury did what they should have done - and yet the punishment

Ugh. I’m going back to bed.

First they came for the proofreaders and I said nothing, for I was not a proofreader...
