Well, considering the list was populated with race cars and post-production tuner models, it's not surprising that such an insane car didn't make the list. That Galaxy is about as production as Ken Block's Fiesta.

They also came with super shitty tires. Tire technology has improved so dramatically in the past 50 years, probably more so than engine and transmission technology.

That's an incredibly interesting read!

They recall what happened to the New Beetle. These executives aren't dumb.

I think you have the wrong person. I didn't post this car, nor have I ever owned a Lexus.

And now you have.

I've always wanted a Porsche Murano Roadmaster Convertible.

Alternatively, muscle cars are small, cheap cars with powerful engines from larger cars. Cars like the WRX meet that criteria.

This is the winner. I think the world record for one of these is a verified mid 8s, making it the fastest car posted. It's not street legal, nor was it technically even a production car, but neither of those are a requirement.

The post doesn't stipulate that cars must be from the factory. Most of the cars posted were frames shipped directly to aftermarket facilities where they were turned into race cars.

Why? The auto will be faster.

The v6 Mustang will run 13s with the performance pack, that's far from anemic man. It's the fastest sub 30k car around VIR in the C&D Lightning Lap.

It would probably be cheaper to get a LS and 'charge it.

40 years ago, they had the same amount power as they did 20 years ago, they just measured it differently. In the 60s, mid 13s from the factory was considered "supercar" performance. According to magazines from that era (A Car's Life), the fastest factory car they tested in the 60s ran like 13.6.

It was in the other article, they ran a manual on the strip.

If this thing comes with 315+ rear tires, a ten second pass off of the showroom floor is completely possible, especially with an automatic and launch control. With drag radials, low 10s is almost guaranteed.

Maybe they haven't finalized the peak torque figure. Thus the floor of 575.

This thing will almost certainly have launch control and could like break single digits on drag radials.

Each time I run my Mustang through the gears, I come to the realization that 420 is too much power. You break into the triple digits so fast, it's unreal. Yet the car is completely docile.

Traction control and good tuning go a long way with making a high-po car driveable. They will do what Ford does with the Mustang and detune it under 2500 RPMs in order to keep the tires from burning off every time you pull away from a light.
