Why do people keep saying that the BRZ comes with Prius tires? It’s an utterly false statement. The stock tires are my Prius are Goodyear all-seasons. While the BRZ has Michelin summer tires.

The track timer in my Mustang puts my 0-60 at 5.9 on the street. Getting that time out of a Miata with half the power is pretty insane.
I’m not being snobby. In fact, I think you’re right about Ford offering a superior product. But people will just ignore the performance aspect if the Focus is faster. Remember when the BOSS302 was faster than the M3, and people downplayed the performance difference, focusing instead of the luxury and cache of the M3?
Nothing like comparing a $25,000 Focus to one of Audi’s RS cars...
> faster revving engine...
A five year old V6 Mustang would go for something like $14-17,000 with a new price of $19-24,000 after rebates. Brakes, tires, gas, insurance, etc. will all be cheaper for the Mustang over those five years. Even if the Mercedes doesn’t depreciate (unlikely), the four or five times you have an unexpected four-figure…
That’s kind of the point: the S is intended to be the fun variants of their lineup.
The TT-S is substantially faster than the Cayman S. The TT-RS is an absolutely bonkers baby R8. The S4 is a really luxurious STI killer and they have plenty of really fast big saloons if that’s your thing.
Are there plans to offer the 2.0L turbo motor? It seems like a great compromise between the diesel and gas V6s. I’m sure they could tune it for ~300ft lbs and 260-280hp and still return high 20s on the highway. Even better, give it a bit more boost and displacement and match the torque of the diesel and offer more HP…
People are constantly whining about how fat cars have gotten. Audi presents a car that is well under 3000lbs and here you are saying that the ONLY reason to buy it over the heavy-ass Golf R is that it’s “cute.”
Horsepower, by definition, wins races. You can always make more torque by changing gearing, but you can’t do the same to make more horsepower.
Those two situations weren’t the faults of engineers, but management sacrificing quality to save a few cents.
You can rent a truck for a $20 an hour from Home Depot. We’ve done that several times without issue.
The Model S is already a wagon though.
Take it a step further and have autonomous rock climbing mode!
Even if there was, atmospheric pressure on Pluto is like 0.0003 bar. So any petrol engine is going to need a big fucking turbo to breath.
The S2000 was the successor to the NSX. It was even manufactured in the old NSX plant. Honda wanted the car to be cheaper and more accessible.
If it has 190hp, people will bitch and won’t buy it. Remember the MR2? They stopped making it because the market for lightweight, low-powered sports cars is only large enough to support the Miata.
The Civic Type-R is going to be in the low 30s.
But it won’t be affordable, it’s going to be $35k minimum. The V6 Accord Coupe is a $33k car, a mid-engine sports car with similar power is going to cost much, much more than that.
