I don’t know. George Clooney as a part Island native is even worse if you think about it.

Come on...yes you can.

I’m glad I’m not the only one whose reaction to this is, “Oh, can Sydney Sweeney not act?”

You’re inventing a position for him to argue against. That’s textbook definition of strawman fallacy. “A straw man fallacy is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion.”

“...he’d probably discount a 20something putting their film on Youtube as not being real cinema or some such nonsense too.” You’re just tossing in strawman shit for? Fit of pique?

Literally, what the fuck are you talking about?

The person writing this has no perspective. No historical insight. They think everything viewed through the prism of box office is the only thing that matters. Yes. Major movie studios used to make more movies aimed at adults. Yes, more people used to see more adult themed movies in movie theaters. One can definitely

I distinctly remember Seinfeld being the first one to do that. That is the iconic usage of that song. Everything after that is what made it cliche.

I don’t think anyone was confused I just think it’s bad writing.

But that’s not what the article is about. The article isn’t about the gulf between past portrayals of people weighed against current perceptions. It’s about what makes this episode a bad episode. And a couple of mild compliments for Guiliani and Cuomo aren’t why it’s a bad episode. If you got a thesis stick with it.

In hindsight, Cuomo may have been better served watching The Sopranos, like the rest of us in 2020, as opposed to manipulating COVID death data and sexually harassing co-workers.”

Would be much  more interested in a list of great albums by terrible musicians.

It wasn’t improvised.

Also the Mandalorian/Logan thing of “understated badass shephards child with magical powers,” thing. There’s been a lot of riffs on that already. Even in a dystopian setting it would be hard to be better than say Children of Men in that regard.

I used to love WTF but Marc isn’t typically a great interviewer. The entertainment value for a long time was finding out how in the distant past Marc had been a dick to someone. That’s why “We good?” used to be the unofficial catchphrase of the show.

There’s a pretty notable outtake in one of the seasons where Troy says “You don’t want to do that...you want to sit at home and think about what you used to be...” and Chevy actually laughs and the whole cast points out that he never laughs at the material.

“For some reason they focus on the new characters...” the reason is because they’re hoping to segway it into “Cavendish” Season 1, instead of “Sex Education” Season 5 and pay Season 1 wages instead of Season 5 wages. This is modus operandi for Netflix now.

Maybe the long game on this is getting us all to buy DVD’s again to get away from the commercials we’ve grown accustomed to not watching.

Ghostbusters (2016) was bad. Studio interference could have made it worse. It probably wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Fan hatred for it was definitely over the top because it was an all female cast. Leslie Jones got the brunt of the hate because she’s a black actress who is not conventionally attractive.

Here’s the thing and it’s really this easy. If you’re bending the truth to make a joke funnier. Fair game. Everyone’s on board. If you’re bending the truth to get more sympathy fuck off, and nobody’s on board. It’s that simple.
