Where did I  say it was new? Where did I say nepotism means no children of hollywood actors are talented? Where did I say it was isolated? And where did I chastise actors for becoming actors? You’re having an imaginary argument with a person in your head.

You’re very condescending for someone not making very compelling arguments. I wonder what unwarranted position you’ve been granted in life to give you this terminal level of self regard.

I’ve voted for him several times because he beats the alternatives but since his days as attorney general for the state I’ve had little more regard for him than as an empty suit who loves a press conference announcing intentions to do something more than actual tangible change.

I didn’t respond to the article. I responded to a response to the article taking issue with that. Nowhere did I ever say Maya Hawke is untalented. I’ve only ever seen her in Asteroid City and she’s fine. I did read the article. Did you? Did you read the part where Ehtan Hawke said people can have their own opinion on

You are extremely defensive. I never said anything about Maya Hawke being untalented but you keep bringing it up.

So what’s the cost? Why does it matter as they say. It matters because it homogenizes the background of the creative arm of Hollywood. And that means we get movies for rich kids by rich kids. Any time they attempt to comment or portray anything outside of their own rich background they’re guessing. There will be

Sure and yet Cody Horn is allowed to star in the original Magic Mike and be a complete black hole in the movie. It’s not like every nepo baby is talented and deserve the shots they get.

Who’s pretending that? It’s an argument you’re starting with yourself. At my own company the owner’s son sits in a corner office and makes 2-3 copies a day but other than that isn’t actually doing anything. It’s pervasive in life. I don’t know why people get so defensive on behalf of actors/writers/directors

I don’t want to put too fine a point on it because this is not a large disagreement. If you’re dreadful you’re not going to last long for the most part but consider that maybe someone who’s been doing a servicable job in a part could be instead replaced not by someone doing the same servicable job but in fact a far

I never said she should be apologetic. She only has her life that she gets to live. She can’t choose to make it on her own there’s no way for her to do that. But we don’t have to pretend that “talent” is the only reason offspring of people who already work in Hollywood get cast in things either.

Acting isn’t sports, how “good” you are at it is much more subjective. Lots of people get parts for lots of reasons and how good they are at acting is a best just one of the reasons on the list but definitely not always the most important one.

There are 160,000 people in SAG. I bet there’s 1-2 million people with the same amount of acting talen as the median SAG member in the whole country. But a lot of people never get a chance because part of making it is knowing people or being able to stick it out in the uncertain period where you’re not getting work.

I have a projector that I love to watch old movies on. Last week I decided to watch the William Friedkin directed Sorcerer. The day after I went to the theaters. I have an AMC A List membership. You get 3 movies a week so I send up seeing a lot of questionable stuff. I decided to see Last Voyage of the Demeter because

The reason they created blue checks is because Twitter was liable for impersonations. Tony La Russa sued them. Why the fuck would anyone pay for what Twitter is legally obligated to do?

Biden won voters under 50,000 57-42%, he won voters 50,000-99,999 56-43 and Trump won voters 100,000 or more 54--43%. Sorry, dude, Republicans tend to be richer.

And it just ruined what was set up in the first movie. “Coward bravely stands up to someone more powerful than him to help the woman he loves...” is a great story!

You did not in fact...fix that for me.

I don’t know how much to blame Johnson because it seemed pretty clear his arc was pointing towards being romantically involved with Rey and it seemed like Disney panic backed out of that because it might affect screenings in international markets. The Last Jedi is trying to toss another romantic interest at him and it

His part of the Last Jedi was the only part of that movie that didn’t work so I understand why HE wouldn’t like it.

It was not a great movie but that was a great trailer and the image of Halle Berry coming up on that little girl on the covered bridge in the middle of the night still sticks with me.
