And she had a great line of “I don’t judge individuals but let’s say I am suspicious of how many dudes have fantasies that align perfectly with existing patriarchal norms.”

Jeez we spend all this energy and time promoting porn stars as our new idols and they let us down! Who will we look to next for guidance on culture, feminism and radical politics? (NB: Answer has to be in the form of a porn star)

Agree. If it’s so awesome that she’s just casually drinking her morning coffee in her underpants and heels, just “grinding,” whatever that means - then why are all the comments about her body? Same shit, different day.

People should be free to do potentially stupid things with their own health, that’s not the issue. It just seems like this is the sort of milestone that should be “celebrated” with nothing but especially vicious sarcasm, if at all.

Am I a bad feminist if I am not particularly thrilled by this? Women now being able to get just as hammered as men kinda seems like a shitty milestone.

I have seen both and been a receptionist. I did turn gay, though.

The Hollywood Reporter’s staff looks pretty diverse.

This is Jezebel, you have to be outraged! don’t think things through, everything is just as it seems and never has any deeper meaning!

It can both be true that Caitlyn Jenner is not deserving of the Woman of the Year, and that this guy is an asshole for calling her a man.

Don’t hate the commenter. Hate the cliche.

Wow. I rarely read the editor’s letters in the beginning of a magazine, but I always read those of Linda Wells. She was knowledgeable, relatable and funny. Allure has been a staple magazine for me for years and I thought they were doing an excellent job of producing consistently great content and great visuals.

Typical.

Wells is to beauty as Anna Wintour is to fashion.

Linda Wells founded Allure. Everything thought she was absolutely insane when she came out with concept, but she stuck to her guns and it, obviously, blew up. Allure has well-written content, gorgeous artwork, and has launched many fledgling beauty brands to success.

Just because I can’t reconcile the idea that somehow someone thought it was “time”. The magazine seemed perfect to me?

Holy shit.

What makes you say that?! I think this was a surprise for Wells. Just yesterday she was Instagramming pics of her running into Pat McGrath in the elevator bank there. But Michelle’s last day at Nylon was last week.

Wells only founded the magazine and successfully edited it for 24 years.

This is really shocking. And I kinda thought I was past that, in terms of iconic mag editors being unceremoniously dumped once they reach an expiration date. I know Michelle—she’s great and I’m sure she’ll do amazing things at Allure. But Linda Wells out...that’s a real blow.

The ONLY reason I can’t diss the show is because even people who don’t win get solid success and careers out of it if they have any hustle in them. Michael Costello showed at Fashion Week. Mondo Guerra has a successful online business. A number of them work for large brands now. And QVC collections are sought after by
