Having grown up driving three and four speed manuals, I remember when a 5 speed was a novelty. Then they became commonplace. I’ve had two six speeds and they both seemed like one too many gears. I would usually skip a gear or two when upshifting. 5 is just right by me...

I totally agree with you take about the shifter being the most fun part of any manual transmission vehicle. I have fond memories of many of my past cars based on that interaction alone.
Exactly - as a person who values my freedom over safety, I appear to be in the minority these days.
When my dad used to continually ask me that “jump off a bridge” question, my internal dialog was always “ of course I would - they’re my friends” but fortunately I never voiced it.

Was hoping for glovebox temp gauge. As regards vacuum gauge, that used to be handy back in the day of carburetors for tuning purposes.
