How ‘bout we go back to a 20th century transportation system with electric streetcars and a comprehensive railroad sytem as well. That seemed to work pretty well “back in the day”
Yup I’ve seen that. I gave my 14 year old grandson his first stick-shift driving lesson this weekend, but first he wanted an explanation of what exactly the clutch pedal and gear lever did, which I was more than happy to provide.
Read the book “Nothing to Envy - Ordinary Lives in North Korea” by Barbara Demick.
That “light your fire” was a lame-o attempt to ride Jim Morrison’s coattails by the by.
“A fully automatic transmission is available. Mounted on the floor.” What, as opposed to the manual transmission mounted on the roof? “Watch those fingers around the u-joints, kids! Hence only 67hp I’m guessing.
One time (in the 70's) I had an intelligent car explain to me why MIT profs won’t take over the world. Turns out it was right (well, so far anyway).
I sure would have...
4th Gear: So what is this “ParkWhiz”, anyway?
Who knew you could tow 8000 lbs. with a tiny penis? Some folks use a truck.
I used to have Chrysler Parts as a customer. The K cars had just come out. I was walking through their parking lot and saw a really nice ‘59 Savoy Wagon and jokingly said “Oh look - it’s the new K car”. Got some laughs but some Chrysler suit overheard me and was not amused and called my boss. He did graciously accept…
Time to dig this out of mothballs...
Man, not only do I know what a Simca is, I’ve driven one. I already knew I wasn’t a patriot as I do not wear a made-in-China American flag lapel pin (with lead-based paint, hopefully) that the real patriots wear on the TV.
Actually, since I turned 20 in 1975 , I would like to point out that thanks to drugs, the entire world was creased down the middle, so the original brochure was entirely accurate.
You obviously have never seen a 1974 Nova...?
Now see in the seventies we didn’t want electric cars, we wanted electric clocks “and much, much more” (whatever that was, I can’t remember. My buddy had a brand new ‘75 Nova SS which was not too bad considering the times.
In other news, Trump is establishing himself as a credible threat that shoudn’t be underestimated. My folks used to tell me how many US Presidential candidates in the 1930's would express their admiration for Adolf Hitler’s consolidation of power in Germany. Zero (in public, anyway).
I think these tyrants must recognize each other by sniffing each others butts or something...
“Remember, the ‘90s were a period of unrestrained, rogue shopping carts.” That’s how I remember the nineties, too!
One of those 84,430 is me. I couldn’t be happier with my ‘16 WT with 6-spd manual. Since it’s DGI, added a catch can for good measure (and if that ain’t a great setup line for some good natured smartassery, I don’t know what ain’t)
