i do not understand your interpretation of my comment. perhaps you are not a native english speaker, or perhaps a troll. are you suggesting that mothers should not be allowed to work outside the home? or that there is an inherent incompatibility between mothering and working?

um, no. i am saying that mothers who want to work outside of the home seem to have trouble doing so in germany.

the labor force participation of mothers is much lower in germany than the united states, 14% vs. 64%. germany may be much farther along in some areas, but certainly not for mothers who wish to return to work.

marissa webb was profiled in the nytimes last year, and i remember her saying that she wore riding boots for wet weather. having just slogged through 60" of snow that winter, well-shod in wellies, i thought at the time she must be an idiot. didn’t strike me as having much in common with the common folks.

as a long-ago escapee from ga, i am surprised it took the parents so long to complain, and i am shocked that a public school would even try to teach something like mindfulness. even halloween is suspect where i grew up.

private school salaries are often lower than thise in public school, with no pensions and very expensive health insurance, to boot.
