Very excited to ditch my Mk6 Golf and move on to a GTI when they arrive in Canada. I know they're dealing with a new manufacturing line in Mexico but getting them a year after everyone else on earth is truly annoying. Now it just means I have to be patient but I can't wait to drive one!
Valid point about the wheels, but I don't think the market for a small city hatchback overlaps the market that spends hundreds more on custom wheels. Maybe that just means I'm looking for issues where there are none...
3rd: I just tried to configure a Fiesta with the EcoBoost on Ford.ca and am surprised at the restrictions the engine has. Requiring a manual is great, but it only seems to be available on the SE trim, and that means you can only get it with wheel covers. I tried choosing one of the other alloys but the EcoBoost was…
It looks like a hunched over 747
Wow, that's some serious aero! Which school?
Absolutely! Don't forget there are also other positions besides engineers. A huge part of the competition is the business and presentation side and many of the hands-on engineers don't want to get involved in that so if you prefer a desk job but still love cars, teams would love the help.
2nd: Bring North America the Golf and you'll see sales go up! It's probably been 8 or 9 months since the Mk6 production stopped and dealers are just picking away at the inventory left. I know they're waiting to release the Mk7 simultaneously across the continent but can you really be surprised that sales are down when…
Have they tested it in other weather conditions besides California's sun? The reaction time and vision of the system would seem to make driving in inclement weather a much safer proposition.
I get why Ford (and other manufacturers as well) would say something like this for their warranty, but shouldn't the burden be on them specifically to prove that a problem is directly related to misuse?
Were you able to find any other tech specs? I'd love to see what this thing is capable of towing.
Stop toying with my emotions! First I decide to go for the GTI, then it sounds like the GTD will come to Canada and be awesome, and now this?
I'm on my second Golf (leased then financed) and will definitely be financing this GTI in order to hang on to it for a very long time. My problem at the moment is that I'll probably end up having to pay a lot more to buy out my current loan (I drive too much for the value to match)
American option packages are interesting compared to Canada. We get Autobahn on both 3 and 5 door models and have the Sport package for sunroof that doesn't require leather. I'll be placing an order for a white 3 door Sport package in another few months.
Truly! I've been following its development and release for some time and just have to decide when to cast off my Golf.
I'm very curious to see what mods the aftermarket applies to the S to make it faster. With so much of it being electrical control, I wonder if they'll go so far as to swap in a new motor.
I'm very interested in knowing how early in the design stage the prototypes fail the tests, or if they fail at all. You would expect that late in testing the trucks pass with flying colours but how early do they need to make changes?
Let's all take a moment and thank Jagvar for getting the higher ups at VW to listen to what enthusiasts want but probably can't afford.
No kidding, mine caught fire!
